KANJIRAPUZHA DAM AND GARDENS

For visitors to Palakkad , a vIsit to cool long pleasant Kanjirapuzha Dam is strongly recommended.

It is about 35 kms from Palakkad off the Palakkad-Kozhikode Highway. It is a pleasant and picturesque drive and the road is very good.
Definitely worth spending some hours.

Visitors are allowed to climb up to the dam and once you reach the top you are showered with a spectacular sight. The reservoir of Kanjirapuzha Dam is nature's gift. Two of its sides are mountain and the views are fabulous.

The lake is surrounded by towering mountains on all sides and one peak, in particular, dominates the whole area.

It must be one of the most beautiful spots in Kerala and a visit during the monsoons . A walk along the length of the dam is worthy

The hills surrounding the reservoir consists of an evergreen forest locally known as 'Vettilachola'. the lake teems with marine life and the Fisheries Department has introduced various commercially saleable species.
